The Balancing Act
Our bodies are designed to discharge toxins effectively, but when apart is diseased this mechanism is affected. In today's lifestyle, stress, insercurities, sedentary jobs, unbalanced diets, no time for self, reduce immunity and make us more susceptible to diseases. Add to this pollution, alcohol, eating disorders, smoking, starch and refined-sugar foods and you will find that in an already receptive to diseases body-system, you take in more toxins than discharge them out. We all, like machines, have weak areas in our bodies by virtue of our genes and physical engineering. The condition in which we "operate" tell on these weak areas with the result that we fall ill. The analogy is similar to the science of fatigue in Mechanics. Even a hairline crack in a machine can cause massive damage to it, specially if the machine operates under mechanical stress inducing conditions.
To most of us, the answer to the problem lies in gymming, cardios and fad-diets , courtesy irresponsible media. While these options are all very well, for long term good health sticking to the basics and bringing small but consistent changes to your lifestyle help. Often, and particularly in this case, the best solutions are the simpler ones.
If your system is not being able to flush the toxins out, you need to help it do that. So include raw vegetable juices in your diet. Raw Vegetables have more nutrients in them than cooked ones and juices are more easily digested by our intestines than vegetables themselves. If you have to have them cooked, steam them instead of cooking them and then add just a hint of olive oil or even butter to them for smell and taste.
A query often playing in the minds of health conscious people is whether coffee is good or bad for them. Coffee is a controversial beverage insofar as its effects on health are concerned. It is also very unavoidable in the lifestyle we lead today, with coffee-machines strewn all over the place. Coffee in moderation does not cause harm and may even have beneficial effects. Most problems arise when we take in excess of something, which is true for coffee as it is true for anything else.
Finally the key lies in balancing. Which is where fad-diets lose out. Your body needs a little bit of everything. Including those small indulgences.
